About the Role | He korero whakamarama mo tenei turanga

  • Ideal for those who find fulfilment in assisting others, it requires empathy, respect, and cultural awareness.
  • Aiding clients in residential supported living facilities – supporting them in the community to enable them to function more safely and independently
  • Assisting clients in their social, emotional and physical daily life skills development
  • Recognizing potentially dangerous situations and being able to deal with these calmly and efficiently

Shifts are typically 8 hours long with a 30-minute unpaid break, occasionally you may be offered 12 hour day or night shifts (or option to extend whilst on shift t your discretion)

Shifts examples:

  • Morning shift: 0700-1500
  • Afternoon shift: 1500-2300
  • Night shift: 2300-0700 (would be a sleepover or awake shift

What you will bring | Nga tohungatanga mo tenei turanga

The successful candidate will be driven by a passion to deliver exceptional services and will be/have:

  • Must have a minimum of 6 months experience in an acute mental health or intellectual disability setting
  • National Certificate in Mental Health Level 4 or NZ Certificate in Health and Well-being Level 3 or 4
  • Proficiency with managing challenging behaviours, ideally have current CPI i.e.: NVCI or MAPA
  • Experienced with and willing to carry out personal cares
  • A full drivers license and the ability to drive a manual
  • Be able to work collaboratively in a team and passionate about developing your skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and highly developed emotional intelligence
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the resilience and ability to cope with the unexpected or difficult situations
