Hand therapy

Hand Therapy

We have a team of highly skilled hand therapists who help you to recover from injuries that affect you anywhere from your elbow to your fingers. This can include: fractures, tendon injuries, post-surgical management, work-related injuries, arthritis and pregnancy-related hand symptoms.
Our team have experience working with patients of all ages, including young children. Our hand therapists have completed physiotherapy degrees, and then gone on to have extensive training specific to hand therapy. Treatment techniques utilised with hand therapy can include splinting, bracing, manual techniques and wound care.

Coast Physiotherapy runs two-school based physiotherapy clinics, at Orewa and Whangaparoa Colleges. Additionally, all our physiotherapists and hand-therapy clinicians are experts at understanding, assessing and treating the unique demands that come with treating children.

Integrated Care Pathways / Careway

As a Careway provider, the team at Coast Physiotherapy can support you with rehabilitation following specific knee, shoulder, and spine injuries. This programme focuses on allowing you to access the services you need, including physiotherapy, investigations, and specialist input. There is no cost for this programme. Come and speak to us to learn more about whether this programme could be right for you.

Early Intervention / Pain and Discomfort Programmes

This is a programme helping employers to support early intervention, when their workers develop either pain or discomfort. The programme provides an initial three physiotherapy sessions, and a short report aimed at addressing any concerns early. This helps employees address any pain or discomfort before it progresses and helps an employer to prevent progression towards an ACC Claim, which will have a positive effect on ACC Levies.

Vocational Rehabilitation Programmes

In conjunction with Geneva Healthcare, we provide Vocational Rehabilitation programmes for people who have had an ACC-funded injury which has prevented them from working in their full role. The programme involves onsite workplace assessment with an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, and can involve a functional rehabilitation programme (an exercise-based approach), which can be delivered through one of our Coast Physio sites.
